Did You Know…
Studies show that massage therapy may be useful for diabetic neuropathy patients by aiding the body to use insulin more effectively and encouraging movement of blood, thereby improving circulation. In a patient with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, a series of massage treatments resembling a diabetic neuropathy massage sequence (including effleurage and petrissage strokes to affected extremities) was administered and results showed a decrease in pain and numbness in all extremities with relatively long-term effects . In general, massage may be useful to alleviate symptoms of other peripheral neuropathies and chronic pain conditions.
