THE HEELER

The Heeler Pedicure  – £52 / 45 Minutes

Dry and Cracked Heels Treatment

Dry skin, standing for long periods of time, and your own weight can cause calluses to form on your feet and heels. After a while, the calluses tend to crack, leaving them open to infection, athlete’s foot, and fungi, causing significant foot pain.

Our foot treatment for men and women is a luxurious way to treat cracked heels and heel pain before it gets severe. Your professional will place your feet into a warm bath with The Heeler products, then scrubbed the heels with special equipment perfect for the level of severity. Your feet are then covered with the appropriate Heeler product and placed inside special mittens to lock in the heat to help the skin and toenails absorb the natural moisturising qualities and finishing off with soothing foot massage.

Besides feeling amazing, this mixture helps to remove toxins and extract impurities. It also aids blood flow and helps combat circulation problems. This pedicure treatment wonderfully nourishes, moisturises, and soothes your feet.

WHAT’S OCCURRING WITH THE SKIN WHEN SOMEONE EXPERIENCES DRY CRACKED HEELS?

Well, there are numerous reasons why people may experience dry and cracked heels. Our feet are responsible for holding our body weight and therefore they withstand a tremendous amount of pressure. When weight and pressure are applied to the heels, the skin expands outwards; thus, if our skin is dry, it becomes less elastic and rigid and therefore more prone to cracking. Some common causes of dry, cracked heels includes medical conditions such as: eczema, hypothyroidism, juvenile plantar dermatosis, athlete’s foot, obesity or diabetes; there are also biomechanical factors such as heel spurs, flat feet, or standing for long periods of time, particularly on hard flooring. Other contributing factors are open-healed or poorly fitting shoes, as well as dry, cold weather.

CAN YOU GET THE CAUSE OF YOUR CRACKED HEELS WRONG?

Yes, this is very typical.

Many clients don’t have the medical conditions or risk factors listed above. They often assume if they suffer from dry or cracked heels, they simply need to book a pedicure to rid of the problem, when the most common reason is actually an Athlete’s Foot infection. Athlete’s Foot is a fungal infection of the foot that develops commonly on the soles of the feet and in between the toes. Athlete’s Foot usually produces itchy, dry, scaling skin. In more severe cases, inflammation, cracks, and blisters may form. Athlete’s Foot is caused by a group of mould-like fungi called dermatophytes that feed on dead skin and nails. Athlete’s foot is closely related to other fungal infections, including ringworm and jock itch. In more severe cases, we recommend consulting your GP, who may prescribe an oral anti-fungal medication and/or a topical ointment for this specific condition.

ARE THEY MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR AT A PARTICULAR TIME OF YEAR?

Most people will have Athlete’s Foot or cracked heels in the winter because they wear thicker shoes and boots that air out less and may be exposed to more moisture from rain or snow. These infections are still common during the hotter months as people go to pools and gyms more and often times walk barefoot in these locations.

With the dry winter air and heated rooms and offices in London, comes the need for skin care treatment for dry cracked heels. Our professionals can alleviate the heel pain that results from dry cracked callused heels using the best foot care system of products and foot treatment.
